Tony Fonseca Head Coach

Coach Tony Fonseca, parent of swimmers Laina (soon 15) and Ambri (recently 10), tenth year with SSTC as coach, seventh year as head coach. Former year-round swimmer from Rhode Island, competed for Bluefish, Bishop Hendricken, and the University of Notre Dame. Currently Head Coach of the East Providence Boys’ & Girls’ Club Tidal Waves this winter, and has been on deck as a coach since 2000.

Gianna Spremullo Asst Coach

Coach Gi Spremullo just finished her sophomore year at Tulane. She's faster than me, she's faster than you, and she even walks and talks fast!

Korryn Cartwright Asst Coach

Coach Korryn Cartwright just finished her sophomore year at St Raphael's. She's one of the fastest swimmers in SSTC history and happy to pass on all of her swimming knowledge to our youngest athletes!

Alex Doty Asst Coach

Nurse/ Coach Alex has been passing on knowledge to all three groups of SSTC swimmers since 2022. The Rumford resident and former Northeastern swim star has been a vital part of our recent success, and we're happy to have her on deck!

2026 practice and meet schedule

THE GOOGLE CALENDAR AT THE BOTTOM HAS BOTH TIDAL WAVES and SSTC LISTED. LOOK AT MY SUMMER!

First practice is June 22nd! 2026 practice schedule is similar but more 11/12 will swim in the 7am hour. Exact list is TBD based on registration so stay tuned!

M through Th 7:00-8:00am practice (swam with Tony in the past, typically 12&O)
M through Th 8:00-9:00am practice for 9-12 year olds and 8&U

Fridays will continue to be 7:30-8:30am and by INVITATION ONLY for beginner swimmers to refine skills not grasped during the week already. The invite will come out over email during the week and will not necessarily carry over week to week.

Meets are Tu or Th, we have one evening meet and four morning meets, and no relay carnival in 2026. They last two hours (typically) once the competition begins.
7/7 @ Bayside in Barrington (the Y), 5:30pm warmup 6:00pm meet
7/9 @ SSTC vs Kendbrin 7:00am warmup 8:00am start
7/14 team breakfast @ SSTC after practice 8:00-10:00 am
7/16 @ SSTC vs Fuller 7:00am warmup 8:00am start
7/21 @ SLM 8:30am warmup 9:00am start
7/23 @ Kirkbrae 8:00am warmup 8:30am start

We also will have a dive team this year. Participation for the dive team is included with your swim team fee. Diving practice will be M and W, 7:00-8:00am and 9:00-10:00am, with swimmers choosing whichever practice works best! Dive team will also have an invitation only 7:30-8:30am Friday workout.

All Pool Dive Meet is July 31st at SLM in the morning.

All Pool Meet is August 1st and 2nd at Kendbrin. Saturday is prelims and runs roughly 8am-1pm. Sunday is top 16 finals and has all relay events, and runs about the same length of time as Saturday's prelim session. All swimmers are expected to attend! Must swim in two of the five meets to be eligible for participation!

Team banquet at SSTC @ 5pm on 8/3.
